General Description
This location named “Anchor Stock in Capo Grosso” is also in the area of the sea north of Levanzo. From the dive point at about 10 m from the coast, visitors can see the numerous anchor stocks still lying on the sea floor thanks to the crystal clear water, with no need to follow a pre-defined route.Naturalistic Features
Along the seabed, between 20 and 30 m in depth, numerous lead anchor stocks from the Hellenistic-Roman period lie neatly arranged over a vast area predominantly rocky area, along with at least two iron anchors from more recent eras (17th-18th century), a series of stone anchors of uncertain date, as well as numerous fragments of amphorae. This cache of materials only represents a small portion of the artefacts present on the seabed, and has been plundered at various times in the past.area
