General Description

The dive begins from the mooring buoy, from which you will follow the slab of rock until you arrive at the cave’s entrance. Turning towards the coast, you see a pebbly seabed that slopes down to a prairie of sea grass and ends in a rocky environment. The descent ends on the sandy sea floor at a depth of about 44 m, where the cave’s entrance (a large colourful vault about 19 m wide and 6 m high) is found. The cavity has a large main room with an irregular shape. The internal pathway is simple: keeping the wall on your left, you will pass behind a large boulder and will continue on for about a hundred metres until you emerge through a beautiful passageway at the end, at a depth of 27 m. Continuing along the walls, you will reach the cave’s exit, which is characterised by splendid light effects. The re-ascent begins keeping the wall on your right and the blue on your left.

Naturalistic Features

While swarms of salema porgy, ornate wrasse and damselfish immediately become visible, towards the deeper area you will see a prairie of sea grass that is often frequented by schools of black and common two-banded seabream. The rocky environment is home to numerous Benthic plants and animals. Numerous noble pen shell or fan mussel specimens can be found in the sand at the mouth of the cave. The walls and the large boulder are covered with red shrimp, along with a few melon sea urchins. During the re-ascent, large groupers and sometimes even barracuda can be seen while looking out to sea.
